The scene is looking out an upstairs window of the Olson House in Farnsworth Maine, which is where Andrew Wyeth did some of his paintings. The house is open to the public. I chose this scene because of the wide range of values and the light casting shadows on the trim and window sill.
After retiring from an engineering career in 2009, Joe's attention turned to art, beginning with pencil drawings and then pastel and watercolor paintings. He especially enjoys the beauty and human interest found in everyday New England scenes, as well as the challenge of commission work, the challenge of capturing a client's idea in an artistic way. Joe's engineering and drawing background has proved to be a strength, resulting in many awards in local art shows and acceptance in nationally recognized exhibits. He is a member of several Connecticut and Massachusetts art organizations. He gives demonstrations at art club meetings, leads watercolor workshops, and is an instructor for watercolor classes.
