Broad Brook Opera House Canvas Print

This painting depicts the Broad Brook Opera House, located on the corner of Main and Depot streets in Broad Brook CT. It was built in 1892 and up until May 2018, it served as the home for many performances in the upstairs auditorium. It's future is uncertain and so this painting was commissioned to serve as a remembrance for those who performed or worked there.

After retiring from an engineering career in 2009, Joe's attention turned to art, beginning with pencil drawings and then pastel and watercolor paintings. He especially enjoys the beauty and human interest found in everyday New England scenes, as well as the challenge of commission work, the challenge of capturing a client's idea in an artistic way. Joe's engineering and drawing background has proved to be a strength, resulting in many awards in local art shows and acceptance in nationally recognized exhibits. He is a member of several Connecticut and Massachusetts art organizations. He gives demonstrations at art club meetings, leads watercolor workshops, and is an instructor for watercolor classes.
