Artist's Description

This scene is based in part on a walk through Rothenburg, Germany, in which the church windows and the small attached structure are framed by an arch over the walkway. The restaurant, (apparently not yet open for business based on the absence of any customers) and the statue of the ballerina were added by the artist. People are beginning to funnel through the arch toward the plaza, thus the title. The original is a 14 x 18 watercolor. The framed original is available.

About Joseph Burger

Joseph Burger

After retiring from an engineering career in 2009, Joe's attention turned to art, beginning with pencil drawings and then pastel and watercolor paintings. He especially enjoys the beauty and human interest found in everyday New England scenes, as well as the challenge of commission work, the challenge of capturing a client's idea in an artistic way. Joe's engineering and drawing background has proved to be a strength, resulting in many awards in local art shows and acceptance in nationally recognized exhibits. He is a member of several Connecticut and Massachusetts art organizations. He gives demonstrations at art club meetings, leads watercolor workshops, and is an instructor for watercolor classes.
