Artist's Description

The painting was inspired by the arched entry way to the Springfield Museum quadrangle in Springfield, Mass., where students of all types must pass through to attend classes at the museum school in painting, writing, languages, etc. The original is an 11 x 14 image in a 14 x 18 frame. The original is part of the artist's permanent collection.

Joseph Burger

After retiring from an engineering career in 2009, Joe's attention turned to art, beginning with pencil drawings and then pastel and watercolor paintings. He especially enjoys the beauty and human interest found in everyday New England scenes, as well as the challenge of commission work, the challenge of capturing a client's idea in an artistic way. Joe's engineering and drawing background has proved to be a strength, resulting in many awards in local art shows and acceptance in nationally recognized exhibits. He is a member of several Connecticut and Massachusetts art organizations. He gives demonstrations at art club meetings, leads watercolor workshops, and is an instructor for watercolor classes.
