This original watercolor is approximately 12x16 and double matted in a 16x20 frame. The painting shows a statue (loosely based on the statue of Commodore John Barry in Independence Square, Philadelphia) looking over a modern city while pedestrians walk through the rain under their umbrellas. Hopefully it is "Just a Shower." In the background, something is going on under the tents, perhaps an art exhibit.

After retiring from an engineering career in 2009, Joe's attention turned to art, beginning with pencil drawings and then pastel and watercolor paintings. He especially enjoys the beauty and human interest found in everyday New England scenes, as well as the challenge of commission work, the challenge of capturing a client's idea in an artistic way. Joe's engineering and drawing background has proved to be a strength, resulting in many awards in local art shows and acceptance in nationally recognized exhibits. He is a member of several Connecticut and Massachusetts art organizations. He gives demonstrations at art club meetings, leads watercolor workshops, and is an instructor for watercolor classes.
