This old guy was a fixture in town. His name was Lightening, or simply Lightnin'. It's about a 14 x 20 watercolor painting. Matted and framed it's about 18 x 24. In the painting, snow melts off the tin roof and drips down onto the barrel, and there are a few drops on Lightnin's nose as well.
After retiring from an engineering career in 2009, Joe's attention turned to art, beginning with pencil drawings and then pastel and watercolor paintings. He especially enjoys the beauty and human interest found in everyday New England scenes, as well as the challenge of commission work, the challenge of capturing a client's idea in an artistic way. Joe's engineering and drawing background has proved to be a strength, resulting in many awards in local art shows and acceptance in nationally recognized exhibits. He is a member of several Connecticut and Massachusetts art organizations. He gives demonstrations at art club meetings, leads watercolor workshops, and is an instructor for watercolor classes.
